Fire Disaster Donation Drives at MSHS

Opportunities to Help Fire Victims: Wednesday, January 15 - Friday, January 24

The current wildfires continue to have a devastating effect on Los Angeles County’s people and infrastructure.  With thousands of residents displaced and many having lost their homes and businesses, the Mary Star of the Sea High School community is collecting monetary donations to provide financial assistance to help these victims with food, clothing, and other needs related to the fires.  In addition, Mary Star is collecting pet food and other pet supplies to assist the overcrowded shelters with caring for displaced pets and animals.  All financial donations will be sent directly to the Wildfire Victims Emergency Relief Fund  (https://lacatholics.org/california-fires/) established by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.  Pet supplies will delivered to the animal shelters by Pedro Pet Pals (www.pedropetpals.com).  Donations may be made at the school office 2500 N. Taper Ave, San Pedro 90731, Wednesday January 15 - Friday January, 24 7:30am - 3:30pm.  Please review the attached flyer for pet donations needed.

MSHS will continue to focus on protecting its students, faculty, staff and their loved ones.  We monitor the AQI regularly and will adjust athletic practices, competitions, outdoor classes and student break and lunchtimes if necessary.

I leave you with the prayer Archbishop Gomez has sent to all our Catholic schools:

Lord, please be with the fire fighters, law enforcement and first responders and keep them safe as they make heroic efforts to rescue those in trouble and protect our communities.  Dear God, bless each and every person impacted by the fires and surround them with Your love, protection, and angels.  We know that even in the darkest hours, You are always with us.  In Jesus’ name, we pray.  Amen

Yours, in Mary, Star of the Sea,

 Ms. Rita Dever
