PurposeStar Academic Association is a volunteer parent organization dedicated to supporting the academic programs of Mary Star of the Sea High School. By offering support to the faculty and encouragement to our students, Star Academic Association acknowledges academic accomplishments on every grade level.
ProgramIn addition to honoring student achievement throughout the year at academic department luncheons, Star Academic provides hospitality for Career Day and hosts the receptions for the Academic Awards assemblies that take place each semester. Our organization also publishes and sells a pocket-sized Mary Star of the Sea High School calendar, available at the Main Office.ScholarshipsIn addition, Star Academic Association raises money to award annual scholarships at the Academic Awards Banquet each May. Scholarship applications are accepted from students who are freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors at Mary Star of the Sea High School in good academic and disciplinary standing. Applicants must be good citizens with exemplary discipline records, responsible towards others and respectful to the teachers and staff of the High School. In addition, applicants must have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average. Scholarship recipients are chosen from each grade level by the scholarship committee based on an evaluation of academic performance, co-curricular and community activities, and an essay written by the applicants. It is the privilege and honor of the Star Academic Association to announce the recipients of the 2007 Star Academic Association Scholarships:
