Message
from the Rector:
Working Together
September, 2007
Dear Parents,
Guardians and Friends:
Welcome back! I am looking forward to the adventures of the new
school year. Although we have not quite completed construction at
the new campus in time for beginning our fi rst week of instruction,
we are nevertheless ready to begin another exciting school year
at our old campus. We are working hard to assure all our families
of a timely, effi cient move to the new campus soon after dedication
day. It is my hope that all of this school year’s endeavors
will be grace fi lled, and will help each of us to grow in love
of God and neighbor.
As Rector, one
of my main duties is to see that the Catholic Christian Mission
and Philosophy of our school is upheld. The school’s mission
statement reminds us that “In the great tradition of Catholic
education, Mary Star of the Sea High School challenges students
to reach their full potential through a living faith in God.”
In order for the students to reach their full potential, the school
must provide an environment where a deep and living faith in God
can be recognized. This God-centered environment is not limited
merely to the church and religion class, but is something that must
permeate all aspects of school life.
Further, this
Christian environment essentially includes mutual respect. “If
anyone says ‘I love God’ and hates his brother, he is
a liar (1Jn. 4,20).” Let us remember that any difficult situation
can be handled in a charitable and respectful manner. Remember the
Golden Rule; “Do unto others whatever you would have them
do to you (Mt. 7,12).” It is my desire that we all work together
to foster this most important element of our school.
As we begin
this new school year, I look forward to working with all of you
to make this the best school year ever. May God bless you.
Sincerely in
Mary, Star of the Sea,
Rev. Nicholas
Tacito, O.Praem.
